Ash has been long known as a wood of choice for instrument builders when a strong attack is necessary generally described as “spank”. We came across a highly figured batch of ash that created a distinctive tone that worked best when combined with a solid spruce top. Adding mahogany binding around the top, back and skunk stripe created and elegant look that we had to share. A custom slotted bone nut was used to increase the string spacing at the first fret making these easier to play.
